Autism Informed Employers Q&A
What is AIE?
Autism Informed Employers is a full course dedicated to understanding autism and how to include and support autistic workers.
How much does it cost?
Autism Informed Employers is a free course offered by UK’s Human Development Institute.
Who can take the course?
Anyone may take the course. Certificates and other benefits are offered for employers.
Why should I take this course?
If you are an employer, you may struggle to keep positions filled. Meanwhile, the employment rate for autistic people in Kentucky is below 20%. There are many qualified workers seeking employment with a business that understands the sensory, social, and communication needs of autistic people.
What will I learn?
Techniques for interviewing; communication strategies; conflict management; benefits of hiring autistic workers; frequently requested accommodations; accessibility tips; ADA requirements, and much more!
How will this benefit my business?
Upon completion of the course, you will receive a certificate confirming you as an Autism Informed Employer. ISAW will highlight your business on our website and social media accounts, and your logo will be included in our future training materials and presentations. You will be able to schedule unlimited, free consultations with ISAW. Most importantly, your business will benefit through the ability to confidently include and support autistic workers.
How long is the course?
Autism Informed Employers is presented in seven sections, each with 1-5 modules averaging 12 minutes each. The entire course can be completed in a little over 3 hours. You have one year to complete the course once you have started.
Who is the instructor?
